If the answer is "yes" then welcome to the club. Australia is the second "fattest" nation on earth and despite more diets and "get thin quick" products than ever before 81% of attempts to lose weight end in failure. This means we're getting bigger and bigger and the health consequences that this brings is what is often called the Obesity Epidemic. That's the bad news. The good news is that there's a solution you probably haven't tried yet and is based on
scientific research, not guesswork (that's why it works).
It's called Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and is the main collection of techniques used by psychologists. Originally developed as a solution to mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety, CBT can now be used as a solution to a number of human challenges - including weight loss and control. The "mental skills" target many of the reasons people struggle with their weight including:
-
-
How to improve your body image (what you think of you)
-
What types of goals are best
and how to record them
-
Reducing the impact of negative and irrational thinking
-
The power of a properly designed routine and time management
-
Breaking the dangerous link between Emotions (depression, stress, boredom etc) and Eating / Drinking
